It's a good day for a poll, and with winter trudging on (more in some places than others), a little nod to the Spring we all hope for seems like a good idea.
Let's see how our MFU characters might spend their Spring Break...

It's a new year, and in the MFU-niverse, we're in our third season amidst a degree of nonsense and some of our favorite episodes.  It's quite a contrast between The Concrete Overcoat Affair and My Favorite Gorilla, the latter of which we speak in hushed tones to lessen the trauma.
With Season 3 in mind, let's ask a few questions.

It's gorgeous outside here in the Bluegrass, I hope the same can be said for wherever you are.  I think we could have some fun with a poll, it's been awhile and we all probably need a bit of frivolity in our day.  Let's see, what to talk about...?

And to those not in the States, happy weekend even if you don't get yourselves a holiday.  Here in the US we've flags waving and barbeques on the agenda.  Fireworks have already been shooting off in anticipation of the Big Event on Monday, and the roads are thick with traffic as people head towards family or a short vacation to some cherished destination.
Even though the Man from UNCLE was a non-partisan, apolitical organization, our team landed in New York City.  It would be inevitable for some of this country's traditions and celebrations to catch up to the Russian, and the 4th of July is no exception.  It represents, perhaps more than all of the others, the ideals and foundation of what generated a Revolution and established what would become, and was at the time of the series, the pre-eminent world power.  Illya Kuryakin might disagree, certainly the Soviets envisioned their empire as unstoppable and ultimately victorious in the race for domination.  Fifty plus years later we do indeed see a former KGB operative at the helm of a rejuvenated Russian state who still hopes for the type of power it once wielded.
With that in mind, how about a poll.

Hopefully we'll have a pretty fair response for this poll.  I'd like to get an idea about how much time people need (or want), and the likelihood of participation.  We're doing it regardless of the numbers, but it would be nice to have an idea.  If you haven't heard about it, the conversation began HERE

Spring is on its way and so are the traditional signposts of nature's call to ... um, well... mate.  The animal kingdom and ours as well associate spring with romance and forever kinds of love; June weddings and summer romances come to mind.
So, a little something to warm our hearts and maybe even our cockels, whatever those are ;)

What if the movie (you know, The Movie), doesn't beget a sequel and that announcement is observed and processed by the Hollywod powers that digest such things.  What if someone decides it could be a successful TV series?  I know, big stretch because it already was a successful TV series.  But can it work a second time?  Can it duplicate the success of, say... Hawaii Five-0? Do we have actors who can pull it off better than the movie?
Let's see what the community thinks.

Okay, since we seem to be agreed on this Pockets for Svetlanacat project, I thought I'd list a few ideas and resources for those who might be craft challenged ;)
I'm using Amazon.com simply because they have everything and it at least lets your see what the product is.

Iron-On Transfer Paper
Crayola Fabric Markers
Embroidery Thread

If you're thinking of quilting something onto the pocket, consider using felt rather than batting so that it doesn't become too bulky.  You can also applique onto the pocket, apply lace and other types of trim.  Buttons and even badges that have a message you wish to share.
Ribbons can be sewn or glued onto the pocket, and if you decide to go the transfer route, you can copy anything onto that paper and then iron your design or illustration, photograph... whatever it is... onto the pocket.
If you have any questions about the How To of this project, I think [livejournal.com profile] spikesgirl58 is onboard to answer as well as myself.  PM me and I'll try to help you figure it out.

If you think you're going to participate in this, please indicate here by simply hitting the YES button, and we'll get a basic idea of where the final project is heading.

Huge thanks to everyone for your comments and the great suggestions for how to celebrate the MFU 50th!
I've gathered the ideas together, and arranged them into ticky boxes--because who doesn't like ticky boxes :)

Three categories, and you can tick as many boxes as you like in each category.

And of course we won't be limited to these suggestions. The more 50th Anniversary activity the better! This is to find out how many people are interested and to get the ball rolling.

Some useful information before you tick. )

[Poll #1964096]

I'll leave the poll open for a week, tick away! If you'd like to comment, please do so here (Network Command)

eta: I have to edit in this great suggestion from [livejournal.com profile] vladeckk (Vicky Loebel): I'd personally like to see first-show cousing on twitter using the #ManFromUNCLE hash tag, which has pretty much been taken over by movie folks. Let's do it!

Yeah, I know it hasn't been 24 hours yet, but... um...

Anyway, today's question is all about stunt casting in the new UNCLE movie we're nerdily creating. Come on over to vote, snark, whatever.

Movie Poll Question #5
[identity profile] georgiesmith.livejournal.com
I've been doing a silly daily poll over in my LJ and wanted to invite folks to come on over and play too. They're mostly just goofy questions about a fictional UNCLE movie (or new series) but it's been a lot of fun.

Today's poll question can be found here.
