The moment you've all been waiting for has arrived -- it's the reveal post for the Down the Chimney Affair 3!

There is one story yet to be posted. The pinch hit author has assured me she will submit the story asap. I will post your story then, [livejournal.com profile] laughingacademy. I'm sorry to say that you'll be left in suspense just a wee bit longer. *g*

Congratulations and thank you to everyone who wrote, beta'd, encouraged, or left feedback. You're all a part of what makes Down the Chimney so much fun every year, and it is much appreciated by all.

Authors, feel free to post your beta thanks here, author notes -- anything you'd like to post. Posting them in comments to your own stories is also welcome, but they're more likely to be seen here rather than readers clicking through all of the stories. You can now also post your stories elsewhere on the 'net. Thanks for holding back.

So without further ado, here are the secret agent santas, that hard-working, sneaky crowd.

Art was excluded from this year's Down the Chimney Affair, but the talented [livejournal.com profile] elleshukugawa still graced us with a fabulous holiday illo that should not be missed. You can find it here. Not Work Safe!

And on we go to 2007. Maybe it be happy and prosperous year, filled with even more wonderful spy stories.

I hope everyone has had a wonderful holiday season! Happy Boxing Day to our Canadian and UK members, too!

There are three stories lurking to yet be posted for Down the Chimney Affair. Rest assured, the authors have been in contact and have every intention of following through, they're just running a bit late. The stories will be posted just as soon as they're received.

Because many authors and artists were busy with holiday commitments (including Down the Chimney), the December theme of Theme Amnesty will carry over until January 15th. Check [livejournal.com profile] muncle's memories for past theme challenges and choose one you'd like to write for. Just be sure to include the theme number when posting to the community so that your story is archived with the appropriate theme.

Hokay, secret agent santas! Midnight tonight (EST, give or take) is the deadline for all stories for the Down the Chimney Affair. Thus far only a third of the stories have been received. Notices have been received from a couple of you that you are running behind schedule, and we thank you for the updates. All such emails have received responses from myself, [livejournal.com profile] irene_heron or [livejournal.com profile] hdshroom. If you emailed that your assignment would be late or that you need a pinch hitter to take your assignment and you have not received a reply, your email was not received by the mods. Please resend ASAP!

Starting tomorrow, stories will be posted in no particular order, two per day, until we've exhausted all stories. That should be Xmas if I mathed correctly. Due to certain logistics, there may be three stories for a day or two, but I don't think anyone will mind, right? *g*

A reminder to authors:
- please submit your story with the assignment email you received. This makes posting the stories much easier.
- please do not post your story anywhere on the 'net (your personal LJ, a fiction archive, etc.) until the reveal on January 1st. It spoils the surprise and you want to keep your recipient on the edge of their seat with wondering, right? Right!
- if your story requires special html formatting (italics, bold, etc.) you must insert this formatting yourself prior to submitting. If you have difficulty with html, or have no idea what relation the letters h-t-m-and-l have to each other, please let the mods know when you submit your story and we'll help you as much as we can. Stories will be posted as they are submitted unless the author specifies that they need formatting assistance. If you have already submitted your story and it needs coding, please contact the mods asap with a coded version.
- I know we all want to thank our betas and others who helped us with our stories, however, please don't submit stories with author info. Once the reveal is made on January 1st, you are free to comment to your story with author notes, beta thanks, etc. This worked well last year so we're doing it again this year. *See ETA below

If anyone has questions, feel free to email muncle211 AT gmail DOT com. I'm checking in there once a day, but only that. If you need more immediate help or information, contact me at sithdragn AT livejournal DOT com and chances are I can get back to you fairly quickly.

*ETA: Please don't include author notes that specify names. If you want to include something like 'Thank you to my beta' or some such, that's perfectly fine. Author notes that do not reveal names are more than welcome. Apologies for the poor phrasing above.

Down the Chimney Affair 3 secret santas, this is a reminder that it's now two weeks until your assignments are due on December 17. (Yes, it was just October yesterday, and no, I have no idea how this happens every year *g*). Anyone who believes they will not meet the deadline or fulfill their assignment, now is the time to say so. Please don't wait until the last minute to notify us. Waiting makes it very difficult on pinch hitters, and stress is not what DTC is about, especially at this time of year. If you need to have your assignment issued to a pinch hitter, send an email asap to muncle211 AT gmail DOT com.

And, as is our tradition, December is Theme Amnesty Month on [livejournal.com profile] muncle. What this means is that all themes, no matter how old or new, are fair game all month. This is your chance to try a theme that may have been issued before you were a member of [livejournal.com profile] muncle, or finish that half-written story on your hard drive that haunts you at night like Marley's ghost. Go to [livejournal.com profile] muncle's Memories page to see all of the themes and challenges there are to choose from.

Theme Amnesty posting note: when posting a story or art for a previous theme, include the theme number and name in the subject line or story header so that it is certain to be added to Memories correctly.

Good luck to all!

Down the Chimney Affair 3 participants, all secret santa assignments have been sent. Because LJ has had a lag in sending email notices of comments, please allow 24 hours to receive your assignment. If in 24 hours you have not received your assignment, please comment to this post with your email, and your assignment will be emailed directly. All comments to this post are screened so they will not be viewable to anyone but the community maintainers.

If you have any questions regarding DTC3, feel free to comment here, or email muncle211 AT gmail DOTcom.

No more signups for Down The Chimney Affair 3. Thanks to everyone who signed up, and thank you also to those who couldn't sign up for the challenge, but offered to pinch hit. Very, very much appreciated.

I will be sending out DTC3 assignments some time today (October 27). I will do this by replying to your comment at the signup post. You will receive an email notification of my reply, and that is your assignment. When all assignments have been sent, I will post a note as such to [livejournal.com profile] muncle.
