And we are launched!

Welcome to the Man From UNCLE Bingo Season!

This is a low-key, inspirational challenge where themed prompts will be distributed as bingo cards. The general idea of a "bingo challenge" is to look over the list of prompts on a randomized bingo card and see if there are five in a row or column or diagonal that inspire you. Then create something based on each prompt in the line. When all five have been completed, then you've finished a "bingo". There are also other bingo patterns for more inspiration, explained under bingo types.

The Man From UNCLE bingo will be a mix of prompts from common themes and also specific ones for our fandom(s). We will be running for a full year, so if you're working on other challenges, you can finish those first. :) Inspiration all year round.

Our challenge covers both the TV series and the Movie version, and all are welcome to play! We have a livejournal, a tumblr, and an AO3 account, and we invite all manner of fandom to come and join us. If you like gen, slash, het, ot3, or whatever floats your boat, this sea accommodates it all. We are also all-inclusive as far as how your fandom is expressed. Write fic? Great! Do artwork? Awesome! Make music? Terrific! For fills on the prompts, we accept Story/Fanfic, Music Vid, Recommendations Set, Icons, Fannish Essay/Meta, Picspam, Art, Drawings, Manips, Layout, Music Mixes... all of those are perfectly valid and fun things to do or try.

You can get a card and read more about T/MFU Bingo, the rules, the themes, the bingo types, etc, at either our livejournal or tumblr.

And just to jump-start it, I wrote two stories for my own bingo cards. :) One MFU combo stamp, and one TMFU single fill (no bingo yet! working on it).
- MFU TV: One of These Times (angsty, presumed dead, gen with touchy-feely)
- TMFU Movie: Adjustments (team 3, mission fic, wounded first aid, gen)

Come join the fun! :)

Cross-posting a link from my LJ that may be of interest to muncle fans: Gay communist spies and KGB honey traps – The surprising history of the Lavender Scare

Thanks to a minor fic-background-research subject that seriously got away from me, I've been reading up on the topic of gay spies through the Cold War era (of both the real and imaginary-hiding-under-the-bed variety) over the last few months, and been thoroughly floored by just how much there was to discover about the subject. Though it's more history-geekery than truly muncle-related (and as a fairly new fan, my sincere apologies if the subject has been discussed to death already around these parts), I don't think it's any exaggeration to say that a lot of Cold War counter-intelligence operations spent the period obsessed with the subject of gay spies, to a degree even we around the slashier end of fandom would find a little extreme.

The full story runs the gamut from actual KGB blackmail operations to the Cambridge Five to Alan Turing to years of gay panic and institutional persecution to rival the worst of the parallel Red Scare – plus a surprisingly extensive history of perfectly loyal gay British spymasters who did vital work in the early service. Alternately lurid, amusing, eye-opening and thoroughly depressing, there's certainly stuff in here that could be of great use to fic writers or other fans trying to make sense out of the era, but well beyond that, this is one fascinating bit of history all in its own right.

Here on Section VII we have had a blast writing MFU fiction, from drabbles to weighty subject laden stories from our various challenges and writing events.  If you haven't checked out the plethora (it's nice to use big words like that ;) of stories that have accumulated over the past two and half years then here you go.  The Archives are a good way of going back in time but to save you the effort I've included the tags so that you can pick and choose or simply start at the top.  It's a good collection from a variety of writers whose efforts here are so greatly appreciated. Sometimes you see a few names more often than others, but the surprises are there too with veteran writers like
[livejournal.com profile] nsandik and
Rose Burkett (roselight on ff.net).  Our readers are part of our inspiration, and I hope you know how important it is when we find out you've enjoyed one of these offerings.
Okay, it's in your hands now.  Carry on.

Greetings, MFU fans!

Some time ago I had the honor of being asked to create art for MFU zine novel written by an MFU author whose stories I have loved and treasured through the years. ChannelD’s has always has her own unique interpretation of Illya and Napoleon and not surprisingly, I was completely blown away by her novel, “A Voice in the Wind”. This is an AU, dystopia novel wherein both Illya and Napoleon are in their early 20’s.

100 Things U.N.C.L.E. Staff Are Not Allowed To Do, at my fic journal on DW | at my personal DW | at my personal LJ | or at AO3.
Gen. (Het implied, & Slash if you squint.) Humour. Approx. 4,300 words. 12+ for mild sex & violence. Alexander Waverly, Napoleon Solo, Illya Kuryakin, April Dancer, Mark Stone; Mr Waverly's POV.

Please stop playing with the super glue. We are a law enforcement office, not a modern art gallery. There will be severe consequences when I find out who glued Mrs. Nbebe's desk and other office fixtures to her office ceiling.

This is an extended version of (and sort-of sequel to) my earlier memo-fic, 50 Things U.N.C.L.E. Staff Are Not Allowed To Do.

Hi there!

I've created two new communities - [livejournal.com profile] daily_vaughn and [livejournal.com profile] daily_mccallum - that have but a single goal: to provide you with a single picture of one of those lovely men each and every day.

Pictures will start being posted February 1. (So, in about an hour.)

Hope to see you there.

Hi all!
I've been covertly following this comm for awhile, but this is the first time I've gotten myself together to post here. Anyway, I've podficced (recorded myself reading aloud - like an audiobook, but with fanfic!) a few MUNCLE fics, and thought people here might like to hear about them. All are some variety of Illya/Napoleon, none rated higher than PG-13

five podfics through here )

I've got five slash zines up for sale to benefit the Raspberry World server fund.  Zines are gone. Thanks!

Hi cousins. I posted this video at [livejournal.com profile] mfu_yumdaily yesterday, but I didn't want to get too spammy right off the bat. Also, my confidence has been boosted by its warm reception there. :)

Anyway, I had this idea rattling around in my head to do a Man from U.N.C.L.E. fanvid to "Hey Big Spender," and finally got down to business this past weekend.

Here's the result. I used all Season 1 clips, for b/w consistency, and it also seemed to fit thematically too. I hope you enjoy!

Hey everyone!

It's been a while since my YouTube page was taken down and since then I've been working on getting the videos up on my own website. I'm happy to say we've finally done just that! It's in the early stages so there's just a small amount of videos up, but we'll be working on getting more stuff up every day.

We're also including radio shows, interviews, out-of-print books on tape/record so that everyone can enjoy them.

Muncle vidders! We'd be honored if you would upload your videos to the site. Please feel free to drop me a note if you have any questions.

If you have a chance, please stop by and take a look around.

[personal profile] jj_minerva  has written a wonderful new fic, but she doesn't belong to any of the LJ MfU comms.  (I pointed her to 'em, don't worry.)  Anyway, she said I might point y'all to the story on her LJ:

As many members no doubt are aware, Dreamwidth is the newest journaling game in town, scripted with LJ open-source code by fans for use by fandom (and others). Given that [livejournal.com profile] muncle has needed a reliable back-up, I have created a [livejournal.com profile] muncle community on DW:

No doubt there are questions regarding [livejournal.com profile] muncle's role on DW, so I'll say right off the bat that there are no plans to move [livejournal.com profile] muncle from LJ to DW permanently. The DW community is a placeholder and back-up. Rumor has it that when DW goes live on April 30th, a cross-posting feature will be available, allowing posts from DW to cross-post to LJ, and vice versa. If said rumor comes to fruition, I will set up the communities for cross-posting so that [livejournal.com profile] muncle is always up, always available, and art and stories are as safe as they can be. I'll update both communities as progress is made.

Please feel free to post questions, intros, and/or pretty spies.
